Our Philosophy

Our philosophy is to bring operating experience rather than pure business school experience to our portfolio companies.

We strive to understand business issues and bring help not just financial analysis.

We believe in people.

We believe in developing employees and management, our most valuable assets.

Despite his relatively young age, Aubrey R. “Butch” Conner took a small, undercapitalized steel fabrication company and built it into the Southwest’s largest manufacturer of fiberglass and steel storage tanks for the oil and gas industry.

Mr. Conner has been in the manufacturing business for more than 20 years. He is currently Managing Principal/CEO of Conner Holdings, LLC. in Austin, a firm focused on small cap leveraged buyouts in the Oil & Gas industrial sector.

In 2003, when Mr. Conner bought out his partner in Conner Steel, the company had sales of $10 million. By 2006, sales were $50 million. Mr. Conner did recap and financing to expand the company’s operations and increase profit, and expanded the company with added-on acquisitions. By the end of 2007, the company was worth $135m. Mr. Conner has been involved with 14 different companies, has organized over $100 million worth of transitions, and has a no-stop attitude.

His West Texas manner belies Mr. Conner’s aptitude in financial and business matters. He was vice president of Conner Bumper Works from 1982-85. In 1986, he owned and operated A.R. Conner Company, a logistics carrier that delivered products across the country. He also invested in Conner Company, and served as its vice president for sales and marketing. Conner Company’s main business was making steel storage tanks, fabricating highway rails, and making tank accessories.

In 1992, Conner Company was incorporated, and changed its name to Conner Steel Products, Inc. Ten years later, Mr. Conner bought out his then-partner, expanded the steel manufacturing operation, and added a state-of-the-art fiberglass tank fabrication line. Despite the costs of expansion, Mr. Conner was able to consistently improve the company’s profitability through a focus on efficiency, financial management and budgets, logistics, and marketing.

Mr. Conner also invests in real estate, oil and gas wells, and other enterprises. He is a 1993 graduate of Angelo State University, with a degree in business management. He also has training in mechanical engineering and drafting.
